Italian harness racing events

In late August 2026, several harness racing events took place across Italy, specifically at the Snai Sesana and Savio hippodromes.

At the Ippodromo Snai Sesana, the 24th day of the trot season featured the Premio Sari Del Rosso, an event held in memory of the late horse racing figure Sari Del Rosso. The horse Irold, trained by Manuele Matteini, secured victory in this main race. Additionally, Aretha Franklin won the Premio Pacha dei Greppi.

At the Savio Hippodrome in Cesena, the Gran Premio Città di Cesena, a Group II race, was held. Gill Dorial, driven by Marco Stefani and trained by Mauro Baroncini, won the event. Other winners at the Savio venue included Le Chapeau Point in the Premio Giuliano Tartufi and Luxor Ferm in the Premio Padre Danilo Reverberi.

Earlier in the month, the Savio Hippodrome hosted a series of events celebrating the connection between Cesena and Città di Castello, which included the 76th edition of the Gran Premio Città di Cesena, a Group II race for four-year-old horses with a 55,000 euro prize pool. This themed program also commemorated the legendary horse Varenne and the Risorgimento festival. During these events, Evita Nobel, driven by Daniele Cuglini, won the Giuseppe Garibaldi Prize, leading to significant betting payouts. These races served as a cultural bridge ahead of the Mostra Nazionale del Cavallo scheduled for late August in Città di Castello.
