Italian regions expand 118 emergency response network for summer 2026

The health authorities in several Italian regions are strengthening the 118 emergency‑urgenza system for the 2026 summer season. In Brindisi province, ASL Brindisi will operate five seasonal post stations at Torre Canne, Villanova, Torre Santa Sabina, Campo di Mare and Lendinuso from 1 July to 31 August, 8 a.m.–8 p.m., with vehicles supplied by the Alto Salento Soccorso association.

In the town of Pisciotta, a new 24‑hour 118 post will open on 1 July on Via Acquabianca, Marina di Pisciotta, equipped with an ambulance to improve response times for residents and tourists.

ASL Bari is adding six extra 118 stations for the same period, covering Giovinazzo, Cassano delle Murge, Polignano a Mare, the San Giuseppe site in Monopoli, the new Monopoli‑Fasano hospital and a weekend‑only site at Cozzo, all operating 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily.

In Sicily, SEUS will introduce 88 new ambulances by the end of summer 2026, financed through an €11 million lease with UniCredit. The vehicles feature modern Z Vent ZOLL ventilators and ergonomic, touch‑screen‑controlled interiors, aiming to boost emergency care across the island.
