Italian health centers launch home diagnostics and free blood screening

Villa dei Pini, a clinic of the Gruppo Kos in Civitanova (Marche), has introduced a home‑diagnostic service that brings blood draws, electrocardiograms, cardiac and blood‑pressure Holter monitoring, and soon radiography, to patients’ residences. The program targets people with limited mobility, the elderly and other fragile patients, aiming to reduce travel, ease caregiver burden and maintain continuity of care. Requests can be made via a toll‑free number.

In Naples, the EMOCAMP campaign runs throughout the summer, offering free blood‑disorder screening for adults and children at the AOU Vanvitelli’s Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology Laboratory. Using HPLC technology, the test detects hemoglobinopathies without prior appointment. The initiative is supported by the university hospital, the Campania region and the European ERN Eurobloodnet network, and is promoted by Professor Silverio Perrotta and other specialists to improve early detection and encourage blood donation.

Both programs reflect a broader push in Italy to bring preventive health services closer to the community and to increase early diagnosis of chronic conditions.
