Italian health groups expand free preventive screening services

On 11 June, the LILT association in Taranto organized a prevention day at the Cittadella della Carità. Members could receive skin‑cancer checks (moles examined with epiluminescence) and full dermatological exams for €50 each, or a combined price of €80. Women could also book a complete gynecological visit with transvaginal ultrasound and Pap test for €80. Appointments required a LILT membership card and were limited to available slots.

From 9 June, the health authority in the province of Grosseto (Tuscany) began a new distribution model for colon‑rectum screening kits. Residents aged 50‑69 can obtain the stool‑based test without a prescription, now also available in participating pharmacies starting 10 June. The kit must be returned within 48 hours to designated hospital or health‑district collection points for laboratory analysis. Information on collection sites is provided via a mailed letter and the ASL website.
