Italian Health Minister Orazio Schillaci pledges community care houses ready by June 30

Health Minister Orazio Schillaci said the government aims to have community care houses (“case di comunità”) operational by June 30, the deadline set by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). He noted that a decree has not yet been issued because discussions with the regions are still under way, but the goal is shared with regional authorities and the government.

Schillaci described the facilities as a “fundamental presidi” for modernising the national health system, emphasising that they are infrastructure‑ready and will host multidisciplinary teams. A key component, he said, is the involvement of general practitioners. He expressed confidence that agreements with the regions and doctors will be reached in time to serve patients and comply with article 32 of the Constitution.
