Italian Health Minister Orazio Schillaci Visits Brescia Hospitals to Unveil 274‑Million‑Euro Future Hospital Project

Italian Health Minister Orazio Schillaci accompanied Lombardy welfare assessor Guido Bertolaso on a visit to Brescia, a leading province in Italy’s health system. The delegation attended the “Prevention is Future – One Health: people, ecosystems and communities for tomorrow’s health” conference at the Fondazione Poliambulanza, emphasizing a One Health approach.

The officials then toured the Civil Hospitals of Brescia, meeting staff and inspecting the nuclear medicine department, a national centre of excellence recently upgraded with high‑resolution equipment. Director general Luigi Cajazzo presented the “Future Hospital” project, an initial €274 million public‑infrastructure plan designed to embody One Health principles and modernise clinical, research and technological capacities.

The project is financed in part by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), reflecting a commitment to invest in advanced diagnostics and precision therapies for the region and the broader Lombardy health system.
