Italian health regions launch new scheduling hubs and open‑day clinics to cut waitlists

The health authority of Asl 1 Abruzzo activated an extraordinary plan to shorten waiting lists by offering open‑day appointments throughout July. The task force operates on weekends at hospitals in Avezzano, L’Aquila and Sulmona, with specific dates for specialties such as allergology, pneumology, radiology, vascular surgery, dermatology and others. Patients are contacted by CUP offices and can accept earlier dates or keep their original bookings.

In Ferrara, the new Centro Servizi at the Cona hospital began on 13 July with revised opening hours for booking services and telephone information lines. The centre consolidates the internal booking centre and administrative functions, aiming to streamline appointment pathways and improve call handling for specialties including dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, gastro‑enterology, oncology and more.

Both initiatives seek to optimise administrative processes, reduce delays and improve patient access to specialist care across the regions.
