Italy opens multiple new community health hubs in Milazzo, Ravenna and Pomezia

The regional health authority of Messina inaugurated the Casa della Comunità Hub in Milazzo, the 17th facility of a province‑wide network that includes five hubs and twelve spoke centres. Funded by PNRR Mission 6 health funds, the multilevel building of about 1,000 m² hosts general practitioners, specialists, nurses, psychologists and social‑service staff to provide integrated, proximity‑based care.

In Ravenna, the Santa Maria delle Croci Hospital opened a renovated emergency department after a €9.4 million investment. The new 1,500 m² area doubles capacity for medium‑complexity patients, adds dedicated zones for red‑code emergencies, intensive observation and infectious‑disease care, and separates patient flows to improve safety. The project was financed with national and regional resources as part of the Covid‑19 hospital‑network reorganisation.

The Lazio region also launched a Casa della Comunità Hub in Pomezia, serving roughly 115,000 residents of Pomezia and Ardea. The EU‑co‑financed centre consolidates primary‑care doctors, pediatricians, specialists, nurses and a unified access point (PUA/CUP) to reduce pressure on nearby emergency departments and enhance chronic‑care management.
