Italian healthcare workers stage protests over staffing and service cuts

Union representatives and employees of the Guerrato company, which maintains hospital services in Rieti, Magliano Sabina and Poggio Mirteto, held a sit‑in at the Rieti hospital entrance demanding contract compliance, replacement of absent staff and recognition of professional development pathways. The protest follows months of tension over workload and alleged contract breaches.

In Battipaglia, activists and health‑care users rallied against plans to downsize or close the via Gonzaga polyclinic, urging the Campania regional government to preserve the facility, increase medical and nursing personnel and maintain existing outpatient services. Both actions reflect broader concerns about the sustainability of local health‑care provision in Italy.
