Italian heritage projects: New museum in Altopascio and religious restoration in Ruvo di Puglia

Several cultural and heritage projects are being highlighted in Italy. In Ruvo di Puglia, a presentation is scheduled for October 14, 2026, to showcase the conservative maintenance of the venerated simulacrum of Saints Cosmas and Damian. The restoration, conducted by Tiraz Conservazione e Restauro, focused on the mannequins and adjacent materials to restore the integrity of the work. The project was supported by the Fondazione Puglia, the Diocese of Molfetta-Ruvo di Puglia – Giovinazzo – Terlizzi, and the local community through public subscriptions.

In Altopascio, the Mast – Museo di Altopascio Spedale del Tau is set to inaugurate on October 10, 2026. The new museum integrates recovered grain silos, the ancient hospital spaces, and the archaeological collection of the Loggiato Mediceo. The museum aims to use contemporary tools such as video projections and virtual reality to tell the history of the territory, specifically focusing on its role in hosting pilgrims and travelers. The project was promoted by the local administration with contributions from the Tuscany Region and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.
