Italian hospitals in Torre del Greco and Castelnovo Monti get major upgrades and new community facility

Mayor Luigi Mennella and regional health commissioner Loredana Raia inspected the ongoing renovation of the Maresca hospital in Torre del Greco on July 3. The works add 22 surgical and post‑operative intensive‑care beds on the fourth floor, 24 additional medical‑area beds on the third floor, a new analysis laboratory, a rehabilitative gym, and seismic‑strengthening upgrades. Once completed, the hospital will have more than 120 beds, with equipment and furnishings to be installed soon, under a regional and PNRR‑funded program.

On July 9, Castelnovo Monti inaugurated a new Casa‑Ospedale in via dei Partigiani 15. The community hospital provides 18 beds and ambulatory services for chronic and fragile patients, including a multi‑purpose clinic for women’s health, mental health, cardiology and other specialties. The opening was attended by regional health assessor Massimo Fabi, provincial president Giorgio Zanni, mayor Emanuele Ferrari and AUSL leadership. The project, also financed by the PNRR, is part of a broader regional effort to strengthen territorial health services and improve access for local residents.
