Santa Maria Nuova ALS Clinic Gets New Mindray Ultrasound Thanks to AISLA and Singer Fabio Mora
The ALS outpatient clinic at the Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova received a Mindray MX3 ultrasound system valued at €11,350. The donation was organized by the AISLA association of Reggio Emilia and funded in part by the sale of the single “Un respiro” written, composed and performed by singer‑songwriter Fabio Mora, as well as local fundraising events. The equipment, which includes two probes, a cart and a printer, was presented to the clinic's lead physicians, pulmonologist Dr. Gloria Montanari and neurologist Dr. Elena Canali.
Montanari said, “Si tratta di uno strumento fondamentale per noi,” noting that thoracic ultrasound allows safe, non‑invasive monitoring of lung and diaphragm conditions in ALS patients, helping to detect respiratory muscle dysfunction early and guide non‑invasive ventilation. Hospital director Davide Fornaciari thanked AISLA and Mora for the contribution, emphasizing its potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and quality of life for patients.
