Italian labor protests at Lupiae Servizi and Electrolux demand answers
Workers of the municipal services company Lupiae Servizi plan a peaceful sit‑in on 6 July in front of Palazzo Carafa in Lecce, demanding the municipal authorities, the Prefecture and the company honour previously‑made commitments and convene an urgent dialogue to resolve outstanding employment issues.
At the same time, Italian unions have organised a strike and a three‑hour sit‑in at Electrolux’s Porcia plant, timed with a meeting at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made‑in‑Italy in Rome. The actions target the announced redundancies – 1,719 jobs overall and 262 at Porcia – and call for an alternative restructuring plan that preserves jobs, production and the company’s R&D activities in the region.
