Antonio Tajani warns of Russian hybrid warfare targeting European elections

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has warned that Russia may attempt to influence upcoming European elections through hybrid warfare, including cyberattacks and disinformation. Tajani noted that such tactics aim to make Europe less governable and support pro-Russian political interests. He also confirmed that a new confidential military aid package for Ukraine is being prepared.

In response to these warnings, the German Foreign Ministry stated that Russia uses information manipulation to weaken support for Ukraine and increase social polarization. Germany emphasized its commitment to strengthening its defenses against such destabilizing foreign influence.

However, Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Five Star Movement, criticized the warnings as premature. Conte argued that while cyber warfare and criminal organizations are known threats, issuing alarms without specific current evidence is “lightweight” and lacks foundation.
