Italian leukemia charities boost fundraising and launch new patient support centre

The AIL Palermo‑Trapani association held its National Day against leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma in Palermo, presenting its 2025 social balance and announcing a new multipurpose centre for patients. The event, attended by the mayor, regional officials and health directors, highlighted 359 volunteers, 6,224 active donors and more than €740,000 raised through campaigns and the 5×1000 tax share. The association plans the centre to offer free psychological, nutritional and physiotherapy support, as well as training for volunteers and caregivers.

In Malnate, near Varese, a two‑day festival combined music, a Color Run and a show‑cooking session to raise funds for the Giacomo Ascoli Foundation, which supports paediatric lymphoma research and purchases equipment for the Onco‑hematology unit at Ospedale Del Ponte. Pro Loco and local partners organised food stalls, games and a fashion show, with proceeds directed to the foundation’s “Sorridi con Barbara” fund in memory of a young leukemia patient.

Both initiatives illustrate local community efforts across Italy to support leukaemia and lymphoma research and improve care for patients and families.
