Italian libraries launch gaming and bibliotherapy initiatives

Public libraries in Italy are expanding their cultural offerings through gaming initiatives. In the Castelli Romani region, the sixth edition of ‘Giocando in Biblioteca’ is launching, featuring 12 free events across seven libraries, including Albano Laziale, Ciampino, and Genzano di Roma. Running from October to December, the project involves five local associations and participates in the International Games Month @ Your Library. The program includes role-playing and board games for all ages to promote social interaction.

In Laveno Mombello, the Festival della Biblioterapia hosted a gaming review at Villa Frua. The event featured live streaming sessions, board game activities organized by Ludus in Tabula, and a Super Smash Bros tournament. The initiative, organized by the youth team of Cooperativa Totem, also included discussions on ‘Video Game Therapy’ to explore both the positive and cautionary aspects of gaming.
