Italian public library cultural initiatives

Overview

Public libraries across various Italian regions are implementing diverse cultural and educational programs. In the Castelli Romani region, the ‘Giocando in Biblioteca’ initiative is providing free gaming events, including role-playing and board games, to encourage social interaction. Additionally, the Festival della Biblioterapia in Laveno Mombello has explored ‘Video Game Therapy’ through live streaming and tournaments.

In the Lombardy region, libraries are focusing on children’s engagement through themed workshops. Programs include Halloween-themed readings and creative workshops in San Giorgio su Legnano, as well as activities inspired by Lewis Carroll in Albiate as part of the Festival delle Storie 2026.
