Italian local authorities, nursing bodies sign protocol to strengthen territorial welfare

The National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), the National Federation of Professional Orders of Nurses (FNOPI) and the National Federation of Health Services (Federsanità) have signed a Protocol of Understanding aimed at developing innovative, proximity‑based health‑care models across Italy. The agreement seeks to reinforce integration between local administrations, nursing professionals and the national health service, with particular emphasis on expanding the role of family and community nurses in prevention, continuity of care and support for vulnerable citizens. Gaetano Manfredi, ANCI president, highlighted the municipalities' pivotal position in addressing complex social‑health needs, while Barbara Mangiacavalli, president of the nursing federation, described the protocol as a strategic lever for ensuring sustained, equitable health assistance.

Separately, the AIL Milano‑Monza‑Brianza association marked its 50th anniversary with an event on 2 October at Milan's Institute of the Blind. The gathering focused on advances in hematology‑oncology research and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting patients and caregivers, with President Federica Fiorani emphasizing the importance of listening to both expressed and unspoken patient needs.
