Italian local police issue dozens of fines for e‑scooter safety and tourist tax breaches

In the town of Romano di Lombardia, police from the Bassa Bergamasca Orientale district intensified summer road checks, issuing 63 speeding tickets and other infractions. They focused on electric scooters, recording 43 violations: 26 riders lacked helmets, 10 rode without plates, five had no mandatory insurance, one was underage, and one was under the influence of drugs. Police commander Angelo Di Nardo emphasized that each control “is an investment in protecting human life.”

Meanwhile, in the coastal town of Bordighera, the local police examined 180 tourist‑accommodation facilities and issued 73 administrative fines for breaches of the municipal tourist‑tax system. Violations included failure to generate electronic receipts and to register guest information within the required 24‑hour window. Municipal officials stressed that “in the height of the summer season it is even more important to guarantee an organized, transparent tourism system.”
