Italian Ministry of Health recalls carrot-shaped toy containing asbestos

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued an urgent alert regarding a carrot-shaped elastic toy manufactured by Trendhaus (model 967176) that contains sand contaminated with tremolite, a dangerous form of asbestos. The product, which is approximately 17 centimeters long and designed to be stretched, was manufactured in China and has been distributed in Italy and other European markets.

The European Safety Gate notification, validated on July 2, 2026, classifies the risk level as serious. The primary danger arises if the toy's outer casing breaks, potentially releasing toxic fibers that children could inhale. Authorities warn that these toys may be present in private homes, nurseries, and schools.

Consumers are advised to stop using the toy immediately and keep it out of reach of children. If the toy is damaged, individuals must not sweep, blow, or vacuum the residue, as this could disperse asbestos microfibers into the air. In the event of a breakage, the affected area should be isolated and local health authorities contacted for safe disposal instructions.
