Italian Ministry of Health recalls salmon carpaccio and cheese over Listeria risk

The Italian Ministry of Health has ordered an urgent recall of specific lots of salmon carpaccio and pecorino cheese after detecting Listeria monocytogenes. The salmon carpaccio, sold under the Carthago brand, comes from lot 261663441 with a June 30 2026 expiry and was produced in Calvignasco, Milan. The cheese, marketed as “I sapori del Parco,” includes whole 3‑kg wheels and 300‑g portions from a batch dated 17 April 2026, produced in Abriola, Potenza.

Consumers are instructed not to consume the products, to discard them or return them to the point of sale for a refund, and to monitor for listeriosis symptoms, especially if they are pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised. The recall is part of routine food‑safety surveillance coordinated between the Ministry, the Carabinieri’s health unit (NAS), and retailers.
