Italian Ministry of Health warns of asbestos in toys

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued an alert regarding several toys containing sand contaminated with tremolite, a form of asbestos. The warning follows notifications from the European Safety Gate system.

Three specific products have been identified:

1. A Trendhaus orange carrot-shaped stretchy toy (Model 967176, Batch 2025 = CH33287, Barcode 4032722967176). 2. The Trendhaus ‘Feel Better Buddy Voodoo Magic’, a small deformable ghost available in yellow, green, red, and blue (Model 964700, Batches 2025 CH33501 and 2026 CH34194, Barcode 4032722964700). 3. The ‘Super Stretchy Soldier’ produced by TOI – TOYS, a black humanoid-shaped toy (Model 35162Z, Batch 2300596, Barcode 8714627012248).

Authorities advise consumers to stop using these products immediately. If the toy is intact, it should be handled minimally and sealed in plastic before contacting local health authorities (ASL/ATS). If the toy is broken or the sand has leaked, users are warned not to sweep the sand, use a vacuum cleaner, or blow on the material. Instead, they should isolate the area and contact public health departments immediately.
