Italian municipalities approve funding for sports facility renovations
The Municipality of Piacenza has approved a 260,000 euro project for extraordinary maintenance at the Stadio Leonardo Garilli. The works include a complete renovation of the West Stand toilet block, featuring new flooring, waterproofed surfaces, and water-saving fixtures. Additionally, repairs will address leaks in the East Stand facilities, and a new 300 kVA generator will be installed to ensure emergency power for the floodlights. Other planned improvements include repairing pitch-side external paving and restoring deteriorated concrete sections.
In Naples, the municipal government has approved a budget variation to allocate 1.5 million euros for the recovery of the sports field in via Nuova Dietro la Vigna. The facility has been abandoned since 2014 and is currently in a state of decay. The funding will cover the restoration of the playing field, the stands, and a 450-square-meter building for locker rooms and technical facilities. This initiative is part of the broader Napoli Capitale Europea dello Sport 2026 program, aimed at using sports infrastructure to promote social inclusion and community well-being.
