Italian municipalities expand cardioprotection networks

Municipalities in Italy are expanding local cardioprotection initiatives through the installation of automated external defibrillators (DAE) and public education programs.

In Ragusa, the “Contrade Cardioprotette” project aims to progressively increase the presence of defibrillators across various districts. Following the installation of a DAE at the Beata Maria Vergine di Lourdes parish in San Giacomo, a public meeting is scheduled for October 10, 2026, to teach citizens emergency procedures and device usage. Local officials emphasize that the project combines hardware availability with essential community training.

In Celano, the “Celano Città Cardioprotetta” project has expanded its network to 21 geolocated defibrillators. The current administration is conducting maintenance on existing units, including battery and pad replacements, while installing new generation devices. These new units include a pediatric function, allowing for immediate adjustment to treat children during cardiac emergencies.
