Italian municipalities expand defibrillator access and first aid training
Local authorities and foundations in Italy are increasing the availability of life-saving equipment and training. In Imola, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Imola has completed the distribution of 19 defibrillators to local schools that requested them. This initiative, which began in January, aims to ensure more timely interventions during cardiac arrests. The foundation is also supporting the ‘Ci sta a cuore’ project, which provides free seminars on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway clearance.
In Perugia, the municipal government has expanded its ‘Perugia Braveheart’ project by adding 42 new defibrillators. The city is also offering free first aid courses to citizens and has already trained 100 municipal employees. Mayor Vittoria Ferdinandi expressed support for the ‘Legge Bove’, a national legislative proposal aimed at expanding first aid training in schools and public spaces, inspired by recent cardiac arrest incidents involving athletes.
