Italian municipalities implement cardiac protection initiatives

Municipalities in Italy are implementing new initiatives to enhance community cardiac protection and first aid capabilities.

In San Michele di Ganzaria, the regional government has provided a state-of-the-art semi-automatic external defibrillator (DAE). The device will be installed at the municipal headquarters to ensure accessibility during emergencies. Mayor Danilo Parasole announced that the initiative includes upcoming free BLSD (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation) training courses for citizens, coordinated with the 118 emergency service.

Meanwhile, the Porto Torres City Council has unanimously approved a motion to establish a territorial cardio-protection network. The project aims to designate Porto Torres as a ‘Cardio-Protected Municipality’ by providing first aid training, including CPR and airway obstruction techniques, to adults and students. The proposal seeks to involve approximately 600 students in certification programs to ensure timely intervention before professional emergency services arrive.
