Italian municipalities implement strategies to extend tourism seasons
Italian municipalities are implementing strategies to combat tourism seasonality and bolster local economies.
In Crotone, the Crotone Città Futura council group has called for better programming to extend the summer season. The group noted that while August featured quality musical events, the city's economic benefits are currently too concentrated in a short mid-August window. They are advocating for a broader schedule that begins in June and extends through September to better support local merchants and operators who face high risks and costs.
Meanwhile, Agropoli is launching its 'Vivi il Natale, Vivi Agropoli' campaign to attract visitors during the winter months. Following a record-breaking summer, the administration aims to create year-round appeal through a program of artistic lights, artisanal markets, concerts, and family entertainment running from December 5 to January 6. The initiative is part of a long-term strategy to link summer beach tourism with cultural and holiday events.
