Italian municipalities initiate sports facility renovations
Local authorities in Italy have announced significant maintenance and renovation projects for regional sports centers to improve safety and energy efficiency.
In Todi, the Province of Perugia has allocated 150,000 euros for extraordinary maintenance at the Pontenaia sports hall. The funds will specifically target electrical system upgrades to ensure compliance with safety certifications. The facility, which serves both local schools and sports clubs, is currently subject to a management agreement between the Province and the Municipality. Plans are underway to transfer management to the Municipality of Todi upon completion of the upgrades to allow for direct maintenance and future energy efficiency investments.
In Macherio, the local sports hall will close for approximately one year starting in November for structural repairs and energy efficiency upgrades. The project is funded through regional grants from Lombardy and municipal co-financing. To mitigate the impact on local education, schools have arranged alternative locations for physical education classes, including the use of smaller internal facilities and transport to nearby structures in Bareggia.
