Italian municipalities launch historic urban restoration projects

Several Italian municipalities are undertaking projects to restore and revitalize historic urban spaces and landmarks.

In Scerni, officials inaugurated the renovated Pian Palazzo, a central space in the historic district. The project, titled ‘Il Borgo Rinasce’, involved new paving, urban furniture, and lighting to transform the area into a social hub for the community. Mayor Daniele Carlucci described the renovation as a way to strengthen the town's identity and improve the quality of public spaces.

In Fabriano, the local government has approved 565,000 euros for the maintenance and redevelopment of two symbolic buildings. The largest portion, 515,000 euros, is allocated to the Teatro Gentile, a historic theater recently recognized as a UNESCO heritage site. The works will focus on restoring the ticket office, wardrobe, bathrooms, and dressing rooms, as well as upgrading fire safety systems and installing a new stage structure. Additionally, 50,000 euros will be used to repair the roofing of the Palazzo del Podestà to address water infiltration and structural decay caused by weather exposure.
