Italian officials address municipal labor issues and national fiscal stability

Sicilian Regional Assessor for Productive Activities, Edy Tamajo, has called for the transition of municipal workers from part-time to full-time contracts. Tamajo highlighted that over one hundred Sicilian municipalities are facing financial difficulties, including structural imbalances and insolvency. He noted that while the era of precarious employment has passed through stabilization efforts, thousands of workers remain on 18 or 24-hour weekly contracts, which impacts their wages and pension prospects.

Separately, Italian Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti expressed confidence regarding Italy's upcoming S&P credit rating assessment in November. Speaking at the Moneta festival, Giorgetti emphasized that Italy's serious approach to public finance has established the country as a credible international interlocutor. While noting that instability in the Middle East presents challenges, he stated that a downgrade is not a realistic hypothesis and characterized Italy as a stable nation compared to other European counterparts.
