Italian officials debate social inclusion and disability funding reforms
Alex Guastelluccia, president of Unicoop Siracusa, addressed the Territorial Network for Protection and Social Inclusion of District Health 47 in Augusta. He highlighted the importance of third‑sector participation in shaping the 2025‑2026 Zone Plan and the Poverty Fund, stressing collaborative policy making for families, youth, the elderly and people with disabilities.
Nicola Volpi of Fratelli d'Italia criticised the municipal administration’s handling of the “Vita Indipendente” initiative. He argued that the €800,000 budget cited by the council was merely re‑programmed European Social Fund money, calling the move a political stunt and urging transparent, regular funding under the national disability‑rights framework.
