Italian olive oil health focus showcased at Bari expo and Assisi restaurant
The third edition of EVOLIO Expo, a B2B fair dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, will be held from 28–30 January 2027 at the Fiera del Levante in Bari. Organized by Senaf for Nuova Fiera del Levante, the event will feature a health‑focus panel in which Prof. Maria Lisa Clodoveo of the University of Bari stressed that only oils rich in polyphenols, vitamin E, oleic acid and unsaturated fats merit functional‑food claims. She called for precise labeling and scientifically verified health claims to help consumers distinguish truly beneficial EVOO from ordinary condiments.
In Assisi, the restaurant Il Frantoio – located in the historic Palazzo Fontebella hotel – produces its own extra virgin olive oil using mechanical extraction from estate‑grown olives. Aligned with Slow Food principles, the oil’s balanced bitterness and peppery finish is central to the menu, promoting authentic Umbrian cuisine and a culture of well‑being.
