European olive oil producers report strong 2026 harvest quality

Olive oil producers across Spain and Italy are reporting positive trends for the 2026 harvest season, characterized by high quality and, in some regions, significant volume increases.

In Spain, Oro Bailén aims to reach a record production level for its premium early-harvest extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in the 2026/27 campaign. The company forecasts processing approximately 15,000 tons of olives to produce over two million liters of oil, aiming to consolidate its position as a leading producer of premium early-harvest EVOO.

In Italy, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region is seeing a potential doubling of milling quantities compared to the previous year, with the Consorzio Produttori Olio EVO FVG reporting very good quality levels. In Montemurlo, producers note that healthy olives and stable prices are helping the sector recover regularity after complex previous years. Additionally, in Sicily, the Miceli & Sensat organic project has achieved international recognition, with its Unico Picual variety winning Oil of the Year at the Il Magnifico awards in 2026.
