Italian Piedmontese Cattle District Launched by 65 Municipalities

On July 29, an agreement was signed to create the District of the Piedmontese Cattle Supply Chain, an initiative promoted by the municipalities of Racconigi and Carmagnola. The district brings together 65 municipalities and 20 supporting entities across four provinces of Piedmont, covering a breed that accounts for about 14% of Italy’s national cattle production and is regarded as one of the country’s most prestigious autochthonous breeds.

The mayor of Racconigi said the project will “strengthen a strategic sector for the Piedmont economy” and provide new opportunities for farmers. The municipality of Chieri also joined the district, signing the agreement in Carmagnola, with its mayor Alessandro Sicchiero noting that the district will promote quality, collaboration, animal‑welfare standards and access to funding for local producers.
