Three arrested for series of home burglaries in Marche and Abruzzo
Three men of Albanian origin, aged 36, 38, and 48, have been arrested for a series of approximately 20 home burglaries committed between January and April 2026. The group operated using a "criminal commuting" method, using Silvi Marina in the Abruzzo region as a base to launch nighttime raids into the Marche region.
According to investigators from the Osimo Carabinieri, the group targeted homes in Osimo, Sant’Elpidio a Mare, Recanati, and Montecosaro. The suspects typically entered residences by forcing windows or door frames while occupants were asleep. The group utilized a specific division of labor: two members performed the thefts while a third acted as a driver to facilitate a quick return to Abruzzo before dawn.
The investigation gained momentum following a theft in Osimo on April 14, when the suspects were intercepted at the Loreto highway toll booth. Police recovered stolen jewelry and over 2,000 euros in cash during the search. The total estimated loot from the spree is valued at over 50,000 euros in cash, gold, and silver. The three men have been placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring.
