Italy law enforcement conducts widespread drug and crime raids

Law enforcement agencies across Italy have conducted a series of operations targeting drug trafficking, illegal weapons, and financial fraud.

In several major narcotics busts, police and Carabinieri seized significant quantities of drugs, including 17 kilograms of substances in Palagonia, 11 kilograms of cocaine in Ispica, and over 350 grams of cocaine in Taranto. Other operations led to the discovery of marijuana greenhouses in Casapesenna and various quantities of hashish, cocaine, and heroin in locations such as Vigevano, Luino, and Fino Mornasco. These raids resulted in numerous arrests of individuals ranging from teenagers to adults.

Beyond narcotics, authorities addressed other criminal activities. In Casal di Principe, a 20-year-old was arrested for possessing an illegal firearm and ammunition hidden in a roof cavity. In Cosenza, two individuals face charges for extortion and threats related to property rentals. Additionally, the Guardia di Finanza in Palermo seized 1.6 million euros from an entrepreneur accused of generating fraudulent building tax credits worth 2.6 million euros.

In separate incidents, police in Policoro arrested an 18-year-old for sexual assault on a beach, and in Piombino, a 26-year-old was arrested for robbery. These widespread actions reflect ongoing efforts by Italian security forces to combat organized crime, street-level dealing, and economic fraud.
