Italian police seize stolen Fiat 500X and block Napoli car over unpaid tax

Police from the Nucleo Investigativo Stradale Ambientale (NISA) of the Metropolitan Police of Naples seized a Fiat 500X in the Bellavista area of Portici. The vehicle carried a falsified Polish licence plate and a forged chassis, and was identified as stolen in 2021 from the province of Latina. The driver, a repeat offender from the Barra district of Naples, was referred to the judicial authorities on a money‑laundering charge, and the car was placed under criminal seizure.

In a separate enforcement action, a 70‑year‑old resident of Naples received an administrative immobilisation order for his car after the collection agency Municipia‑Abaco identified an unpaid regional vehicle tax of €0.36 dating back to 2020. Interest, legal fees and notification costs have increased the amount owed to roughly €41. The consumer association Assoutenti Campania, led by Roberto Capasso, announced it will appeal the measure, describing it as an excessive burden on citizens.
