Italian ports impose safety bans for fireworks show and WWII ordnance finds

In the coastal town of Sambenedettese (Marche), authorities overseeing the Festa della Marina instituted a 200‑metre security perimeter around the fireworks installation on the south pier. The order, signed by Port Captain Giuseppe Quattrocchi, bans all navigation, anchoring, swimming, fishing and diving within the zone until the display concludes and the area is cleared.

In Naples, the Port Authority responded to the discovery of four unexploded World War II munitions near the Diga Duca d’Aosta. Port Commander Giuseppe Aulicino issued an emergency interdiction that similarly forbids navigation, fishing, bathing and any maritime activity in the affected waters until explosive ordnance disposal teams neutralise the devices. Violators face penalties under maritime law.
