Italian public‑sector unions win cyber allowance for police managers as justice contracts expire

The Italian police officers’ trade union COISP secured the extension of the “cyber” allowance to senior police managers, with the administration beginning procedures to pay the benefit retroactively from 1 January 2022.

Separate negotiations for justice‑sector workers have hit a deadline as all temporary contracts funded by the PNRR ended on 30 June. About 9 000 judicial staff and another 3 000 administrative and technical employees now face uncertain futures, with unions demanding conversion to permanent positions or further extensions.
