Italian Red Cross aids tourists after medical emergencies on Giannutri and San Michele

Volunteers from the Italian Red Cross responded to two separate medical emergencies involving tourists in central Italy. On Giannutri island, a visitor became ill aboard a boat; the Red Cross’s local station coordinated with the 112 emergency center and arranged a ferry transfer to Porto Santo Stefano, where health authorities took over care. The island’s rescue service operates under the “Estate sicura” project alongside regional authorities and the Maregiglio ferry service.

In a later incident on San Michele beach at Sirolo, a 62‑year‑old tourist from Cesena suffered an anaphylactic reaction after an insect bite. President of the Ancona Red Cross, Gianni Barca, provided first aid together with two vacationing doctors, after which the patient was moved by boat to the port of Numana and treated with cortisone, recovering without hospitalization. The same day the Red Cross team also assisted a capsized canoe and other sea‑related ailments along the Conero coast.
