Sibaritide Hospital relocation sparks political dispute in Calabria

Political tension has escalated in Calabria regarding the planned relocation of outpatient clinics to the new Sibaritide Hospital in Contrada Insiti. Angelo Brutto, chairman of the Health Commission, announced that the transfer is scheduled for October.

Giuseppe Campana, regional spokesperson for Europa Verde/Avs, has challenged this timeline, arguing that the new facility is not yet fully functional. Campana noted that the structure lacks essential infrastructure, including potable water connections, proper sewage systems, and adequate access roads. He described the building as a ‘empty box’ due to these missing utilities and suggested that the full completion of the site is at least a year away.
