Italian regions adopt new wild boar control plans amid agricultural and disease concerns

In Tuscany, the regional council's new wildlife management plan was criticised by Fratelli d'Italia councilor Luca Minucci. He argued that reducing hunting limits would ignore the surge of wild boar damaging crops, endangering roads and facilitating the spread of African swine fever, especially in the Maremma area.

In Lazio, the regional wildlife committee approved a disciplinary for the 2026‑27 hunting season. Party leader Daniele Sabatini praised the clear rules aimed at containing boar numbers, protecting agriculture and preventing ASF, and thanked agriculture assessor Giancarlo Righini for the effort.
