Italian regions advance coastal legislation to boost tourism and manage sea concessions

In Campania, Vice‑president of the Regional Council Giuseppe Fabbricatore inaugurated a technical table, coordinated by Professor Francesco Fasolino of the University of Salerno, to draft a regional law establishing Marine Communities. The proposal aims to enhance tourism, attract regional, national and EU funding, improve public services, protect the environment and strengthen the identity of coastal municipalities across the Amalfi Coast, Salerno, Caserta, Naples and the Cilento marine parks.

In Abruzzo, regional councillor Gianpaolo Lugini presented a bill on maritime demesne concessions for tourist‑recreational use, signed by councillors Di Matteo, Mannetti and President Lorenzo Sospiri. The draft requires a data‑driven assessment of existing concessions, a study within 45 days on the state of coastal assets, and sets rules for extensions, public auctions or new concessions depending on resource scarcity, while introducing transparency safeguards that exclude entities with legal exclusions.
