Italian regions advance legislation and sustainable tourism investments in 2026

The Calabria Regional Council wrapped up the first half of its 2026 term with an intensive legislative agenda. Out of 90 proposals, 26 were approved (28.89%), including laws to ensure continuity of regional health services, the first regional regulation on artificial intelligence for public administration, a statute guaranteeing the right to university study, and measures on maritime domain, land reclamation and a budget amendment that also provided solidarity after the Amendolara tragedy. A social‑inclusion law for trainees will affect 938 workers, offering job stabilization for 344 and reintegration paths for the rest.

In Campania, the regional government earmarked €2.12 million to promote sustainable and accessible tourism, financed equally by the National Tourism Fund and a rotation fund. The initiative aims to raise capacity, improve quality and destagionalise visitor flows, especially in interior areas rich in cultural and natural heritage. The region also confirmed €734.7 million for 2026 public transport services and approved a General Forestry Plan (2026‑2035) together with four new Natura 2000 special protection zones.
