Italian regions launch multiple funding programmes for inclusive and youth sports

The Puglia regional welfare department approved a €600,000 public‑notice programme to fund 18 inclusive‑sport projects for children and adolescents from disadvantaged or special‑needs backgrounds in the 2025‑2027 period. The projects, run by third‑sector organisations, cover team sports, water activities, adapted cycling, martial arts and rugby, and combine athletic training with educational, artistic and wellbeing support.

In Sicily, the regional tourism, sport and entertainment department earmarked €800,000 for 2026 to support paralympic sport. The funding will be granted to federations recognised by the Italian Paralympic Committee for the purchase of training equipment, specialised aids and transport subsidies for athletes with disabilities.

Campania opened a €31 million voucher scheme for the 2026‑2027 biennium, offering up to €500 per child (ages 6‑15) to cover registration and participation fees in accredited sport clubs. Applications are submitted online through the regional ARUS portal between 1 July and 31 July 2026.

In Latina, local residents and the “Basta degrado Latina centro storico” committee have objected to a planned playground on Via Don Morosini, financed with EU “Sport illumina” funds, citing delays, loss of green space and concerns about noise and waste accumulation while the site remains fenced off awaiting construction.
