Anci Sicilia has formally requested increased funding for local municipalities, free consortia, and metropolitan cities in Sicily. During a hearing with the Regional Assembly's Budget Commission, association leaders Paolo Amenta and Mario Emanuele Alvano highlighted a significant funding gap. While approximately 800 million euros were allocated to local entities in 2025, the current forecast for 2026 is only 635 million euros, leaving a deficit of 165 million euros.

The association is calling for an extraordinary increase of at least 100 million euros in ordinary resources, suggesting that the region's administrative surplus should be utilized to bridge this gap. They emphasized that adequate funding is critical to maintaining essential services, including social spending, assistance for the disabled, school canteens, and transport for students, all of which are pressured by rising energy and waste management costs.

In separate regional developments, 2.5 million euros have been allocated for the valorization of historic centers, with 1.5 million designated for Ragusa Ibla and 1 million for Ortigia in Siracusa. Additionally, technical approval has been granted for a 6.5 million euro dredging project at the port of Gela to restore navigability.
