Italian regions announce major hiring campaigns for nurses and doctors
The Molise regional health authority disclosed a three‑year staffing plan that includes more than 250 permanent hires of nurses and health‑care assistants. In the short term, 51 nurses have been recruited, with 41 assigned to hospitals such as Cardarelli in Campobasso, Veneziale in Isernia and San Timoteo in Termoli, and 10 placed in community facilities in Venafro and Larino. The plan also adds three socio‑health operators at the Campobasso hospital and five biomedical laboratory technicians across three Molise hospitals.
In Calabria, the health system operator known as Azienda Zero launched new public competitions to fill 98 medical positions and an additional 39 technical and engineering roles, bringing the total recruitment drive to 137 new staff. The contests target specialties such as thoracic surgery, general surgery, pathology, urology, and pediatrics, as well as eight informatics engineers and several laboratory technicians. These efforts follow earlier large‑scale hires of nurses, health‑care assistants and emergency‑room doctors aimed at addressing chronic staffing shortages across the region.
