Italian regions Basilicata and Molise meet all LEA thresholds in 2024 health assessment

The Basilicata region reported that it surpassed the 2024 national assessment of Livelli Essenziali di Assistenza (LEA), obtaining 70 points in collective prevention and public health, 64 points in district assistance and 71 points in hospital assistance, all above the 60‑point sufficiency threshold.

In Molise, the regional health authority also achieved compliance in all three macro‑areas for the first time under the new monitoring system, scoring 70 points in prevention, 62 points in district assistance and exactly 60 points in hospital assistance, meeting the required minimum. Regional officials praised the results as evidence of effective organization, investment in preventive services, and improved management practices.

Both regions highlighted the role of coordinated planning, data‑driven governance and staff commitment in reaching these scores, while noting ongoing challenges such as specialist shortages.
