Italian regions boost PNRR‑funded projects

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region has mobilised about €3.4 billion from the EU Recovery Fund (PNRR) and a complementary plan, reaching roughly 70% of planned spending ahead of the 31 December 2026 deadline. Regional finance assessor Barbara Zilli highlighted that 13,911 projects have been approved, including 38.9 km of cycle paths, electric buses, zero‑emission trains and extensive school‑building upgrades. The region is now among Italy’s leaders in meeting investment targets and payment schedules.

In the central Italian city of Latina, a new Falcone‑Borsellino park, financed with €5.5 million from the PNRR, has been completed after two and a half years of work. The renovated park features new lighting, irrigation, a children’s playground with an eight‑metre dinosaur sculpture, and a butterfly garden. The inauguration is scheduled for 25 July, with a programme of events announced by the municipal administration.
