Italian regions implement agricultural financial support

Italian regional authorities are implementing financial measures to support agricultural businesses facing climate-related challenges. In the Lazio region, the 2026 regional stability law includes an integrative contribution designed to reduce the costs of insurance premiums for plant production. Agriculture Councilor Giancarlo Righini stated that these measures aim to provide greater security for farmers dealing with increasingly unpredictable weather events.

In Lombardy, approximately 65 million euros from the European Union’s Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) have already been distributed to 14,000 farms. This early disbursement is part of a broader initiative expected to reach a total of 100 million euros for roughly 20,000 businesses. These funds arrive amid critical conditions for Lombardy's agricultural sector caused by high temperatures and reduced precipitation.
